Andrew Murray – Partner

Andrew Murray qualified as a solicitor in 1980 after training with Norton Rose.

After qualification, he worked in their specialist oil industry group for two years prior to leaving private practice for six years and working during that period for BAT, one of the UK’s biggest public companies, and UBS, one of the world’s leading banks.

Andrew returned to private practice when he joined Simmons & Simmons banking and capital markets department in 1988 where he was involved with a number of corporate and international finance matters, with special emphasis on asset finance, including shipping and petroleum industry related matters.

Andrew joined City firm Constant & Constant as a Partner in 1997, where he undertook extensive shipping advisory and finance work relating to industrial newbuildings and the negotiation of building contracts both in container shipping and bulk transport (including oil and petroleum products, LPGs and LNGs) as well as luxury cruise liners, megayachts and related club and time share projects. Andrew became head of the firm’s non-contentious shipping group.

Andrew was also heavily involved in a wide variety of mainstream corporate and other project and asset finance, as well as privatisations in the former Yugoslavia.

Having known Quentin Bargate for some 20 years and similarly wanting to take control of his own destiny, Andrew joined Quentin in October 2006 in Bargate Murray.

Andrew presently heads the firm’s Corporate and Banking practice and advises on all kinds of commercial contract, finance, banking and corporate work.
